Barkhunt - Last Round of Season 1

The first full Barkhunt season concluded on Sunday, June 7^th.  I haven’t blogged about it until now because my iPhone was stolen the same night… but that’s another blog!

Anyway, this last round was a lot less chaotic!  Maybe because it was the last one or @jadeheart wasn’t on my heels the whole time!  I ended up winning a bunch of treats and another custom pet portrait from Terry Stanley.  She sent us a picture of the first one we won and I can’t wait to get it in the mail! J  What I love about Barkhunt is that winning prizes gives you a chance to sample the pet products before you try them.  Ellis, our Boxer, is somewhat picky when it comes to treats and his stomach is sensitive.  So I want to make sure he can enjoy the treats we buy for him.  Also, I want to make sure the toys are durable.  We have a Boxer and a Doberman that love to play and chew!  The tore up one of the toys we won and dirtied up another… oops!

The last thing I want to say, before anxiously awaiting the next season, is that I love the Barkhunt sponsors!  They are so dedicated to what they do and put on such a great hunt for everyone to participate in.  I can’t even imagine the behind the scenes for Barkhunt!  I think next season I might video tape myself playing one round J.  The sponsors should video tape them giving out their clues!

Barkhunt Season 1, Round 3

There’s only one more Barkhunt round to go!  If you haven’t played yet, you should really check it out!  Get your practice in this season before they start the next one. In my opinion, if you have a Twitter account and a dog, you should already be playing Barkhunt!  Go to barkhunt.com for all the details.  Make sure to DM @askspikeonline and tell him @abbyroad referred you.

So, after the smoke has cleared and all the doggies have taken a nap, the leaderboard has been updated and I am still in the lead!  I don’t know how I pulled it off, but I did.  I think it was my video of the Baker’s Dog treats. They were so good the puppies gobbled them all up!  I think they’re a great gift idea for friends and family with dogs.  Especially since you can add a photo to the package!

I won some awesome prizes during round 3, but I haven’t gotten any of them yet, so you’ll have to wait for the reviews!  I did however, get an awesome custom key chain from Shopmollyd!  I think it looks just like Ellis, what do you think?

Bark Hunt Season 1, Hunt #2

Bark Hunt #2 is complete (If you don’t know what Bark Hunt is, read my first post)!  This time around the rules changed slightly and instead of DMing the clue-giver, we had to reply @barkhunt.  This change made it a little more frantic since now you can see other replies.  It also made it more fun because it was more competitive that way (and I’m super competitive!).  A big thanks to all the clue-givers and sponsors!

The 3 One Pounders from The Baker’s Dog came yesterday.  We got to put a custom photo of Ellis on the package!  Since Ellis may be allergic to wheat, we got their 3 wheat free/corn free flavors - Pumpkin, Lamb & Rice, and Peanut Butter & Honey.

They also sent us a Cast of Characters toy.  Ellis got to town on that right away!

All flavors were a huge success!  We will definitely be ordering from Baker’s Dog in the future!

Barkhunt - Twitter's first Scavenger Hunt (for Dogs!)

If you haven’t heard me mention it on Twitter, or if you don’t follow me on Twitter, I’ve been participating in a little thing called Barkhunt!  It’s basically a Twitter Scavenger Hunt.  You get clues from different Doggy Twitter accounts and then you search around the web to find the answer.  First one to DM the clue giver, wins a prize!  If you have a dog and a Twitter account you should join Barkhunt.  The next game is May 7^th at 9pm.

I found out about it through @PawLuxury, one of the clue and prize providers.  PawLux.com has some great dog supplies (toys, treats, healthy stuff!) and they’re big into social media and customer service!  The other Twitter accounts that run Barkhunt are @askspikeonline, @bestbullysticks, and @fourleggedmedia.  They’ve been bringing in guest Twitterers as well :).  They also encourage interaction by making you take on the spot pictures of your dog and yourself!  I even played from my iPhone last time and still scored some loot.

Ellis has been enjoying the spoils of victory from Barkhunt…. And now our new puppy, Dee (4 mo Doberman rescue) will too!  Check out some of the pics from the previous Barkhunts.
